Buffet Tips at Buffet101

Craving for a lot of things, food that you are not sure of what exactly it is, and what you only know is you want to eat something delicious? I know, I do too crave like that. If you have an extra budget then maybe buffet dining is the answer. In a buffet, your favorite food could be there and satisfying your unknown craving. However, be careful.. Don’t just jump right into it and devour everything right there. That’s not the wisest thing to do. So below are some of my tips in dining at a buffet.

1. Go for small portions of everything – buffet can be very overwhelming, and if you are a slapsoil like me.. food everywhere and eat all you can is such a heavenly experience. However, your belly has limits so if you want to try everything.. go for small portions.. like 1 spoonful only, that small, yes that small.

2. Start with a soup or salad – prep your belly before the fight, salad or especially soup will inform your stomach and the high water content of it makes it easy for your lovely belly to handle the next round.

3. Take a chocolate break – it sounds weird, yep! but chocolate will reset your sense of taste and rebalance your blood sugar after chowing down that savory food you took. This perks you up and gets back you on track in the game.

4.. Avoid fizzy drinks – this is a very common restaurant technique, for their customers to feel full.. though they are an eat-all-you-can buffet and they have expected already the maximum person’s ability to chow down food.. they still prefer to further limit that. And you don’t want to miss your favorite food because you feel full, don’t you?

5. Drink tea after – after you gorging all those food time for post-buffet damage control! Drink tea especially a peppermint tea to aid your digestion and reduce the bloating or nausea.

So, I hope you enjoy your dining experience, Buffet101 is located in City Time Square, Mandaue. If you are not familiar with City Time Square it’s across Parkmall.

Ultralight Plane Experience

One of the highlights for me during my visit to Davao is to experience this ultralight aviation. The ultralight aircraft has ailerons, elevator, and rudder.

As of this writing, this recreation is not yet available in Cebu. The cost for the 15minutes ride is Php 2,800 and Php 3,000 if you will use their action camera. They are located in Mati City, Davao; a 4-hour land trip from Davao City.

This activity is weather dependent, they only have 2 schedules per day: 5 AM to 8 AM and 3 PM or 4 PM to 5 PM (not sure if they are open during weekends but you may contact them) depending on the wind’s gustiness. You cannot make reservations and they only accept cash. It is operated by the Mindanao Saga Flying Club (MSFC), a flight school based in Bgy. Dahican, Mati City, Davao Oriental.

Please note that if you’re staying in Dahican Surf Resort or the resorts on that area, the entrance of the airport is the right road of the 3-way junction where you’ll see a 7-eleven store or the Surigao-Davao Coastal Road then turn right when you see the rice mill or galingan in bisaya (around 5Km from the junction) then pass through the Golf Course gate. We were from Dahican and we enter the wrong road where it also leads to the airport, however, the school is on the other side and the guard did not allow us to enter through that gate. (Do not follow Google Map’s recommendation). Bring food and water since the place has no near food kiosks.

The transportation is an issue in the area since few tricycles are plying, you need to be very early and if you are able to get one while along the highway or on your way ask him if he can fetch you back.

If you want to experience this too contact them through their Facebook Page Mindanao Saga Flying Club

The experience is worthwhile, highly recommended! But check your area if there’s one that offers the same. You don’t need to travel to Davao Oriental to experience ultralight aviation because what I know is there’s also in Pampanga.

Roxas Night Market Davao City

Night Market is a commonplace now here in the Philippines. Almost every region or cities have their own version of the night market. The highlight of the night market is food though there are some stalls that sell RTWs or Ready To Wear and accessories; people visit the place because of the food.

Roxas Night Market is located in Roxas Ave, Poblacion District, Davao City, Davao del Sur. The prominent landmarks are Marco Polo and Ateneo De Davao. It is open daily from 6:00 PM till midnight.

Different flavors of Buchi
Chorizo, chicken intestine, and pork

Roxas Night Market is no different from another food market like in Larsian or in Sugbo Mercado. They offer very affordable foods like skewers, grilled panga (tuna jaw), tuna, milkfish, chicken, refreshments, and desserts. Compare to Sugbo Mercado or Larsian there are foods that they are the only ones (that I know of) sells like the different flavors of Buchi, legit Durian icecream, and pastel (adobo and rice in a banana leaf). Unfortunately, they don’t have a pater, which I was really looking forward to try during my visit. 🙁

Staycation at Club Tara Resort Siargao Island

The Maldives inspired cottages, a peaceful place, beautiful scenery every time you wake up; perfect for a retreat!

The place is kind of secluded, at first, we thought it’s very accessible but the locals said that it’s located on an island near the Sohoton Cove and you need to hire a boat to get there.

How to Get to Club Tara

To get to Club Tara, as mentioned in the video above or on my Youtube channel. If you’re from General Luna, ride a tricycle for 40 pesos going to Dapa (Dapa is Siargao’s capital) where the main port is also located. Inform the driver that you’re heading to Socorro so that he will drop you to the right gate.

The boat fare is 120 pesos for an hour’s journey to Socorro. Note that you need to inform Club Tara ahead of your schedule of arrival in Socorro because the only way to get to the resort is through a private boat. Let them know so that they can arrange a boat for you. You need to charter the boat for 1,500 pesos one way only. Because we were only 2, so we need to half the payment.

Highlights in Club Tara

Club Tara has been an icon since before because I remember that it’s in the postcard representing Caraga. For us, the highlight of the resort is their jacuzzi facing a picturesque view of nearby islets. Probably there are other resorts too that have the same amenities and view but I think so far, Club Tara is the affordable one with that IG worthy facility.

Another attraction is the multi-layer pointed roof of their cottages that resembles the roof of a pagoda and palaces in Indonesia.

Why I Choose RealMe C2?

Getting a new Smartphone but you’re on a tight budget? Today, entry-level smartphones are getting bolder and better as they compete against the top tier smartphones as well.

The phone that I am using right now that I got 2 years ago which cost around 14,000 pesos at that time is now far from the phones of 2019; even to this entry-level phone from RealMe

In the video, I discussed the areas that I like about this phone. I did not include the specs since you can find that readily available to their website or to other gadgets and technology review sites. Please, turn-on the close-caption (cc) if you find me difficult to understand in the video.

How to deposit to your bank via GCash? (Vlog)

Depositing money to a bank is really a task and let’s admit it, you don’t like spending your time in banks waiting!. It’s one of the chores we tend to apply the mañana habit, and eventually ruining our saving habit.

Luckily, in GCash, you can now deposit to your bank through there mobile app. Below is the video I made on how to transfer money to your bank right at the comfort of your home.

To be able to maximize the benefits of GCash which includes transferring or depositing money to your account through their app, all you need to do is to be fully verified or undergo the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) procedure.

KYC is easy and will happen within the GCash application. All you need to do is send to them your identification (valid ID) then schedule an interview with their KYC agent.

I’m super glad that GCash finally evolves and become the super app for me! I pay my bills here, loan, send money to my family, and deposit or send money to my friend’s bank account (pay my borrowed money). Before I have to travel to malls or nearest (~ 500m away) pera padala center (remittance center) which cost me time, and effort but now those activities are a tap away!
